What Films Can Do…

I found this post in my ‘drafts’ folder and felt a pang of shock when I realised that it’s a year old. I haven’t sat on my yoga ball since I was pregnant, so it must be almost year to the day! I’ve no idea why I didn’t post it at the time, but here it is now. Enjoy! :)

So I watched Secretary a little while ago.

Secretary movie posterI remember being drawn to the cover of the DVD (what’s not to like about a woman bending over and gripping her ankles like that?) and then realised that it had both Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader in it. I’ve adored James Spader since Stargate, where he played this lovely, long-haired, linguistic geek, but I’ve not really seen him since. I’ve just not looked. Realising that Stargate predates Secretary (by almost eight years!) I figured it would be nice to see James again.

I started out watching the film on my yoga ball, stretching out my back because I’d been sitting in a not-so-great position all day. Maggie came along, kicked things off, but as soon as she got to the office, I realised I couldn’t sit on that ball and expect not to fall off.

James Spader was so deliciously creepy! I mean really, totally, wonderfully creepy (!) and realising that was how he played the character meant that I had to sit properly to pay attention. A couple of scenes made me really pay attention and I came away from the whole thing with a little tingle in my legs and a short story forming in my mind.

By the time I made it to bed and pulled my laptop into my lap, I had two characters in mind and the outline of an opening to the story that I knew would stop me sleeping if I didn’t start. So I did. At the time of writing this post, I’m 491 words into a story of undetermined length, featuring a loud mouthed, domineering business woman who works beneath a dull witted, meat-head of a man who has just brought his son into the company to be her secretary.

The second I started writing I realised that Raven was loose. Not that it wasn’t me, but more that the subject I had picked and the direction the piece was going was already far removed from my usual fantasy head. I had stepped very quickly into that headspace where Raven is most at home and when she rules the roost. I have to say… I liked it! I still like it and I can’t wait to see what comes out of me when I next put my fingers to the keys on that piece.

In fact, this is how I opened it:

There is something utterly delicious about leaning over my desk.

I don’t have to be doing anything special; just leaning over it is enough to send little thrills of pleasure shooting up and down my legs. When I take my hands back to the tops of my tights, underneath my skirt where the sheer fabric slides beneath my fingers like silk.

Another sensation I enjoy.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. I suppose I should explain how I got here in the first place and why on earth I would be leaning over my desk, tights exposed in the middle of my office on a busy Wednesday afternoon.

Naughty, naughty, naughty.

I’l keep you posted on how it progresses. :)

I haven’t written any more of this story, although I have found it again. Reading it now, as one might expect, gives me a little wriggle of amusement as I realise that even in the space of a year my writing has improved a ton! I know that sample is only a first draft, but I’m still gratified to see that even those have improved in the space of a year.

Have you guys rediscovered any writing recently? Maybe half completed stories, or blog posts you never managed to publish? What are you going to do with them?

This is the end.

Well, I say that, but it’s not really. The end of an era, for sure, but not the end. Today Six Sentence Sunday will showcase it’s last selection of authors offering up their six sentence snippets. I’ve had a hell of a time and I’d like to say thanks to all of you who have found this blog because of this initiative. Further thanks to those of you who stuck around! It’s lovely to have you on board and I’m glad you’re still with me. As well as that I have to say a massive thank you to Sara Brookes and the rest of her crew for bringing the idea together and opening it up to so many. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself and I hope the future sees you all well.

For this, my last offering for Six Sentence Sunday I give you a last teasing taste of the antics of Raven, Master and Fox:

She saw Fox lick appreciatively at Master’s hand and then crawl forward. He advanced right up to the end of the sofa, shoving his head between her legs and snuffling approvingly at the moisture there.

Raven sighed softly.

Master laughed. “Dogs always know when a woman is ready,” he observed, “they always stick their noses right up a girl’s skirt.”

And that’s all you get! Until I know what’s happening to the whole tale. ^_^

Once again, thanks for joining me for the ride, also to let you know that with the end of Six Sentence Sunday I’m going to try something new.

I am very keen, at the moment, to get my work out there. To do that I need as many people as possible to see my words and I have to be unafraid (well, a little bit afraid, but not to the point of impotence) to receive critiques. The Phoenix Writers and my Tuesday class are helping with that (lots!) but there can never be to much. So! I’ve signed up to Jennifer Eaton’s Critique Blog Hop!Button for blog hopAll those involved post 250 of their WIP to their blog and then hop around offering critiques and receiving them in return. I think it’s a fabulous idea and I’m thrilled to be part of it.

The hop starts today, so there will be another post going up in a couple of hours. And Sunday’s post, going forward, will be a part of the hop. Hope to see more of you there and I hope you’ll join in too!

Now, for the last time, hit the banner link below to see what the others are up to and I’ll catch you somewhere in the ether. Much love!
Six Sentence Sunday

The time has gone so fast! Almost the end of January and this is the penultimate post for Six Sentence Sunday. *sniffle* Back to Breaking Him In which I think I’ll stick with to round off the rest of the month and these posts altogether.

Master has firmly wedged himself into Raven’s play time. But what does he have planned…?

He beckoned her forward and as she moved he took the spreader bar off the sofa and lengthened it to its longest point. “Bend over.”

Biting back whimper, Raven did exactly that, leaning over to assume the position she knew so well; forearms laid flat on the sofa cushions, legs spread, body bent sharply from the waist. She heard Master bend down and felt the soft touch of his hands as he brushed them over her exposed rear on the way down to her ankles. The cuffs were already there, complete with buckles and tiny padlocks which he fastened to the spreader bar with rapid precision.

The air was cool against her thighs and bottom, each movement of her master causing a breeze to rush against her skin.

Oooo, I’m feeling kinda tingly myself! This sort of saucy play is just the sort of thing to brighten a rather gloomy and grey Sunday, wouldn’t you say?

Well that’s all you get for today anyway. Use the banner link to check out what the others are up to and I’ll catch you next week for the last Six Sentence Sunday post.
Six Sentence Sunday

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you’re all well. ^_^

Back again for another snippet from the Breaking Him In story in which Raven the sub has been allowed use of a pet she has named Fox. When last we left her, her Master had slyly intervened with a flogger and a spreader bar, clearly meaning to take charge one more time before letting her have her way.

She looked across at Master with a fire in her gaze just shy of outright insolence. “Now?”

“Right now.” Said Master. “Lift up your skirt.”

Raven did as instructed, bunching the purple velvet up in her hands and tucking the hems up into her waist band.

He’s not kidding is he? But then, Master is Master, so what he says is how it goes, right? We’ll see. Join me next week to find out.

Meantime you know what to do with the banner link below; there are other authors offering up six sentences for your reading pleasure.
Six Sentence Sunday

The first Six Sunday of the year! It’s been a fun few months putting up these little snippets and I’m tempted to keep it up, but we’ll just see how things pan out. Now that it’s January, I’ve run out of excuses to not get my freelancing self off the ground. Particularly important since I now know my official last day at work (more on that in later posts). Anyway, I digress. Continuing with the Breaking Him In story, we’ll skip ahead a fraction to a further on into the night.

Raven allows her pet into the house, she names him Fox and fantasises about how he will look in the butt plug tail she has for him to wear. However, before she can reach that far, it seems that Master has another idea.

Back in the living room Master stood waiting, watching with his arms folded over his chest. He held a broad handled flogger and trailed the tails over his outstretched palm.

Raven paused, her confident step faltering as she found herself utterly wrong footed by this new development. “Sir?”

He smiled, gesturing to the sofa where a spreader bar lay in wait. “I’m going to use that before you start.”

Uh oh! Seems she’s not going to have her way after all. Not yet at least, anyway.

Next week will give you another snippet of this steamy tale. I hope you enjoy it. For now however, there are plenty of other people taking part and, as ever, you can use the banner link below to find them.
