#GoodThingsJar2013

Lookie, lookie at all of the GOOD THINGS!!!

I always forget about my jar until it’s time to talk about it. Not that I forget to put things in it, more that I forget to be pleased about what it represents.

It’s filling up fast and there are so many more blue (or is it green? Can’t tell in the light in here) slips! Way more than the others. Apparently April has been a good month.

To break it down, April has included things like signing off JSA (FREAKIN YES!), the official launch of The Write Feeling, entering numerous competitions and getting some letters out there (to magazines). I’ve also included weight loss milestones (6lbs in two weeks!) and milestones for the boys. Michael AND Leon are walking now, though Michael is that little bit less confident that his younger brother. *snerk* Younger, do remember that there is only one minute between them!

I’ve also put things like Zombie Earth in the jar which was, effectively, my first LARP in over a year. Can you believe that?! A year (and more) since I put on my ears and danced around the woods as Trya. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I invite you to take a closer look at the picture to the right of your screen. Yeah more Trya HF 9 It was so good to get back into LARPing in any for, that I’m thinking about going back this week. That all depends on family though; as there are lots of visits happening this weekend.

Not only is it the boys’s birthday next week (*GASP*) but it’s also mine. Talk about an awesome double whammy! I think the jar for May is going to be pretty heavy with coloured slips.

I’ve not decided what colour I want yet. I’d better work on that because I already have some things I want to add. Not least, the short story I managed to bash out just today. 1,689 words, a complete story for a competition I thought I’d enter, from the Writer’s Magazine. It needs a heavy handed edit, but with a deadline of May 14, I’m sure I can manage it. The hardest part is done. Ish.

So… what about you fine folks? How does your jar look at this point of the year? Nice and full I hope! ^_^

imageWhat a month! There are soooooooooo many pink slips in that jar. Just LOOK AT IT! This is such a wonderful exercise for me; I’m glad that I’m doing it. Makes a hell of a lot of difference if I’m having a bad day, being able to look at that jar.

So… if I recap, the jar this month includes such delightful tid bits as the sign off of my business plan by my business mentor, working on The Write Feeling website, my boys sleeping through the night, making tasty culinary treats and fun days out with the family. Despite the atrocious weather I’ve had a very pleasant March.

While today is April, I feel I should also mention that I picked up two Hotel Chocolat eggs at half price in John Lewis today. I’m thrilled; because I didn’t buy any Easter eggs, or do anything Easter-ish this year. Well… I ate a couple of bunnies, but I didn’t buy them. :p They were actually for Leon and Michael, but I took a bullet for them and ate one myself. Dave had the other.

Coming up in April, we have the launch of The Write Feeling coming up (yes, yes, I know I haven’t talked about it much; I’m going to soon. Really soon, promise!) as well as more milestones for the boys. I’ll be signing off JSA which will be a massive pink green slip (yes, yes, I am changing the colours each month) in the jar.

How have you guys been getting on? I’ve been busy enough that I’ve not put many updates on Twitter about this (apologies!) but things are calming down a bit now. Hopefully I’ll just have regular bits and bobs that I can plan for which should make getting onto social media, responding to comments and visiting other blogs, possible.

So… have you have a good Easter? What have you been up to? How does your jar look? ^_^

^_^

I don’t often toot my own horn in this way, but I can’t help it. I’ve never seen myself as the type to do this sort of thing so I want to talk about it. A lot.

We got locked out of the house today.

Not because we’d forgotten our keys or anything like that. No, no; for some reason our keys (and the spare kept safe with a neighbour) just didn’t work. They went round and round (and round!) in the lock and just wouldn’t open it. We got the first lock undone, but couldn’t do the next.

Dave rang me up – I was still out – asking how close I was and explaining what had happened. He was outside with two young’uns and a tonne of shopping so I raced home with the pram to help. My key didn’t work either.

After establishing that our neighbours to either side weren’t in, and that the gate to the back was locked beyond our help, there was only one way to handle it. At least to my mind. My solution: kick the door down.

Mwah ah ah a a ha ha hah ah ahaaa ha haaa!

It took a couple of goes but I ambled up to that door, sized it up and kicked it in. Kicked it in good!

I’m so hard! :pkicking karate girl from open clipart

Award time!

I’m also so, so, SO chuffed whenever anybody nominates me for an award. I just love feeling that not only is someone reading my words, but thinking of me and taking the time to consider me for an award. It warms me inside and out and I want to say thank you to Rob and Ranin for nominating me.

This is the Very Inspiring Blog Award, which kinda looks like this:

Mother’s Day 2013

In a break from our usual Sunday feast I just want to take a brief moment to talk about my first Mother’s Day as a mum.

Last year I was pregnant, which isn’t quite the same. Regardless, I still had a sense of my growing responsibility and a growing sense of awe for the woman who raised myself and my sister.
One year on, following ten months (and the rest) of broken sleep, dirty nappies and murdered social life, those feelings have grown.

I’ve no idea how Mum did what she did to produce Trudie and myself. Well… I do, but I don’t mean like that! I don’t know how she did it and stayed sane. And I’m a hell of a lot luckier than she was; what with my fantastic friends, brilliant technology and incredible partner. I still have a life – no matter how much I complain to the contrary. Hers stopped. I know that.

*sigh*

I don’t want to gush on and on, after all, every day should be mother’s day / father’s day / valentine’s day whatever. But…! I do want to say a big, loving THANK YOU to my mum and an equally big NUFF RESPECT to any and all other mums out there.

You rock. x
